High School Math Classes for Homeschoolers in the Auburn/Opelika Area
High School Math Classes for Homeschoolers in the Auburn/Opelika Area
Many homeschooled students do well with self-paced or parent-led learning--until they reach high school Math. Upper-level Math courses require
clear explanations of abstract concepts
not just how, but WHY to follow problem-solving steps
live feedback to address misconceptions.
That's why a small, in-person class setting with a certified teacher, like Mrs. Mary, can make a huge difference in confidence, comprehension, and long-term success with Math.
Each class will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings in Mrs. Mary's homeschool classroom in Auburn.
The All Things Algebra curriculum will be provided for all students.
8:00-9:15am Geometry
9:30-10:45am Algebra 2

Can I use money from the CHOOSE Act for this class?
Yes! For qualifying homeschool families, the CHOOSE Act provides up to $2,000 per student each year to use toward in-person classes with a certified instructor. Please let me know if you would like to wait to register until the funds are available in July.
Will you charge extra fees for materials or curriculum?
No. The only cost is a nonrefundable $60 deposit and the tuition of $840 per year. Students will need to have their own basic school supplies, but the curriculum notes will be provided. Each class will use the All Things Algebra curriculum by Gina Wilson. All Things Algebra is a high-quality, trusted curriculum that I have used for years.
Why do classes meet 3 times per week?
I have taught Math classes in a few different environments--a Magnet school, private schools, a homeschool coop, and a cottage school. After years of experience in these schools, I have learned that, to teach High School Math courses thoroughly, 3 days of class time each week is necessary.
What will students need to do at home?
All instruction and assessments will take place during class time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. At home, students will need to complete homework and review lessons. Homework should not exceed 3 hours per week. Grades and attendance will be recorded in Google Classroom, so that parents and students can remain up to date.
What additional expectations are there?
Students must prioritize class attendance and submit a parent excuse for any absences. Students should arrive to class 5 minutes before the starting time to find their seat and prepare their materials. Students should respect their teacher and classmates at all times. Because we will be meeting in my homeschool classroom, I expect that students will not use foul language, will not bring in vapes, drugs, or alcohol, and will dress appropriately to ensure that the learning environment is safe and productive for everyone.
How will grading be recorded and submitted?
Grades and attendance will be recorded in Google Classroom, so that students and parents can remain up to date. After the 1st semester, parents will receive a Report Card for their records. At the end of the school year, I will submit the final Report Card to the student's cover school.
